HPV Treatment

What is meant by HPV treatment is the treatment of genital condyloma, and the main principle in HPV treatment is to completely remove the warts as soon as possible in order to minimize contagion and recurrence. For HPV treatment, that is, genital wart treatment, laser treatment is used, as well as cauterization (burning treatment), cryotherapy (freezing treatment) to eliminate condylomas.

HPV treatment should be done under the best conditions and the patient should be followed up correctly in the following period.

Genital wart (condyloma)

Genital wart, condyloma, which is called “condyloma acumunata” in medical language, is a disease caused by HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). Unless the patient is treated, condylomas spread and can infect those around them.

Genital wart ie condyloma; It is the type of warts seen on the hands, face and other parts of our body, seen in the anus and genital areas. Since such moist areas are suitable conditions for the spread of the virus, it spreads quickly and is difficult to treat.

What are the symptoms of condyloma?

If you see lumpy protrusions ranging from 1-2 mm to 1-2 cm in your genital area, you should definitely see a doctor. Many people confuse these warts with pimples or pimples and do not care, when they spread, they go to the doctor with discomfort, but in this process, the disease has already spread and progressed.

Podophylline:It is used in concentrations from 5% to 45% and can cause skin burns and irritation damage, requires frequent doctor control, and recurrence is seen in different publications at a rate of 33-65%.

Trichloroacetic acid:It is seen again in warts at a rate of 42%.

Cidofovir:40-60% of recurrences are seen

Infrared condyloma treatment:With local anesthesia, it is easily performed in office conditions, painlessly, and the patient can return to work immediately. The recurrence rate is around 35-40%

Imiquimod (Aldara):The patient can apply Aldara by himself and does not require frequent doctor control.

Fluorouracil:It is used rarely and the success rate is around 55%, with 20% recurrence.

Nitric acid:Rarely used, no data, an average of 37-50% recurrence has been reported.

Bichloroacetic acid:It causes burns and serious wounds on the skin, causes discoloration, requires frequent doctor examination, and recurrence is seen in 25-48%.

HPV Treatment with Cryotherapy

(genital wart treatment, Condyloma freezing treatment)

With cryotherapy (genital wart freezing treatment), the aim is to freeze the warts and remove them from healthy skin. Liquid nitrogen is used for this process. Liquid nitrogen is applied by spraying with a special device. Local anesthesia is often not required during freezing treatment. After the cryotherapy treatment, the warts turn black and crust within 1-4 days, and within about 14 days they are shed and separated from the skin. During this period, the patient takes care of the wound with various creams. During the treatment process, there is no serious open wound and the cosmetic result of the treatment is also good. As a complication, rarely, especially in patients with dark skin color, whiteness may occur in the places where the freezing process is applied. This color change can be temporary or permanent.

Ice cream treatment is not always done. It is generally preferred if the number of warts is small and of a certain size, it is not an effective method in the presence of many warts.

HPV Treatment with Electrocauterization

( Genital wart treatment with burning )

With electrocautery, cautery burning method (genital wart burning treatment), electric current is applied with the help of special tips and it returns to the device from the antenna contacted with the patient. In other words, while the electric current is circulating on the patient’s skin, a certain heat is generated at the treatment end of the device, which is the place where it encounters the most resistance. In this way, warts are cleaned by burning. It provides a more permanent treatment than the cryotherapy method and is known as an alternative and first choice in the treatment of genital warts in many centers compared to the cryotherapy method.

Genital Wart, HPV Treatment with Leep method

LEEP, which is a new technology, is the abbreviation of Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure. In fact, the LEEP method is used to diagnose and treat the change in the cervix of women with abnormality as a result of PAP smear. With the help of this tool, the changing area in the cervix is cut quickly, effectively and painlessly. -It is extracted by burning. With the same logic, removing genital warts by cutting with the LEEP method is a very easy and permanent method, it usually does not leave any traces after the treatment. It is an easy-to-use and non-permanent treatment method that we prefer in the treatment of many and more large warts. If the genital wart is to be sent to pathology or typing, removal with this method is the best method since it does not harm the tissue to be examined.

Wart treatment with laser, HPV and Laser

Although laser is an expensive method, it is an effective and good treatment method and can be preferred by the physician according to the prevalence and size of genital warts. Since it is an expensive method, it is not used frequently in our country.
