Siblings Test – Kinship Tests

Brotherhood Test

Kinship Tests

These tests are done to find out if there is any biological relationship between 2 or more people. It is done when the alleged father of the child is not available for a Paternity Test or a sample cannot be taken from him. In such cases, samples are taken from other relatives instead of the person who is thought to be the alleged father.

In order to clarify the result, in cases where the alleged father is not available for analysis, the result can be obtained by interpreting the genetic relationship between direct relatives. Such tests are called grand paternity or uncle / aunt tests. DNA profile tests also allow the interpretation of genetic profiles between siblings, and such tests are called DNA sibling tests.

In principle, it is possible to determine whether two or more individuals are siblings by looking at their genetic profiles alone. The necessary condition is to take DNA samples from the participants.

If additional samples are available from the biological parents of the individuals, the result can be determined even more precisely. Depending on the scope of the tests and the different combinations (combinations), values of up to 99.9% can be achieved; However, in sibling tests in which parents do not participate, the probabilities are lower than in paternity tests.

However, if the subjects to be tested are male, the lineage can be examined with the help of the Y-chromosome marker and very precise conclusions can be reached regarding the degree of association.

Sisterhood Tests
The sibling test is a test to find out if 2 people are siblings.

Why Take the Sibling Test?
In cases where genetic samples cannot be obtained from the father and the father cannot be reached, the sibling test is performed.

How to Take the Sibling Test?
There are two possible situations, half or full sibling testing.

Half Brotherhood Test:
It is a test to find out if two people with different mothers are from the same biological father.

Full Brotherhood Test:
It is a test to see if two people thought to have the same mother are from the same biological father.

Reliability of the Sibling Test:
Comparison of blood samples from possible siblings is sufficient for testing. However, in order to get more accurate results from the sibling test, it is important that the mother or prospective mothers also participate in the test.
